Driving in Colorado FAQ

The state of Colorado recently passed statewide legislation that requires all app-based tech companies that connect people to delivery, including Shipt, to ensure that any person who is offered work on their platform gets a minimum of 60 seconds to review that offer before it is offered to others.

Route offers

When you receive an offer notification, you’ll have 60 seconds of exclusivity to review and claim the offer.

The offer card will show you:

  • The arrival time.
    • This is when you should arrive at the sortation center to pick up the route.
  • The “deliver by” time.
    • This is when you should deliver all packages on the route.
  • The pickup location.
  • The total number of delivery stops and total estimated drive time to complete delivery.

Tap the location icon to view more information about the location details including*:

  • Your current location and estimated drive time to the sortation center.
  • The total number of delivery stops, and the estimated time and mileage to pick up and complete the route.
  • A map showing the the delivery route.

*Note: This information will only be visible when claiming available routes, or after future routes actualize.

Payment History

Once your route has been delivered, check your Payment history to review a breakdown of total pay, and a total of all time and mileage from the time you Swipe head to pick up until you Swipe to complete route.*

  • If a route is canceled more than 2 hours before the arrival window and you haven’t swiped to head to pickup or started heading to the sortation center, you’ll see no time, mileage, or pay.
  • If a route was canceled more than 2 hours before the arrival window, but you already swiped to head to pickup and started driving to the sortation center, you may see time and mileage to account for your drive, but no pay amount.
  • If a route is canceled by Shipt or the retailer less than 2 hours before the arrival window you’ll receive $25 for the route.

You’ll receive a monthly breakdown of your total mileage via email at the end of every month.*  To help improve mileage accuracy, switch location sharing permissions to “always on” and avoid force closing your app while delivering.

*Note: Keep in mind that total miles and time are calculated to the best of Shipt’s ability and encompass all time and distance traveled starting from the moment when you Swipe to head to pick up until the moment you Swipe to complete route. This may include time and mileage spent driving for other gig companies if you’re completing work on multiple apps at once, and any stops, breaks, personal errands, or other deviation from the order. Separate orders completed simultaneously may have time and mileage that overlap, but they’ll be listed separately in your Payment history. This does not serve as tax advice.

FAQ

How will offers be determined in Colorado?

  • Routes will be offered to drivers based on several factors including but not limited to the times they’ve indicated that they’re available to pick up routes using the Schedule screen in the app, and their preferred delivery radius. For more information, click here.
  • Offers will have a minimum exclusivity period of 60 seconds. This means that you will have at least a minute to review an offer before it becomes available to other shoppers.

Am I required to use the Schedule?

  • In order to ensure that every offer has an exclusivity period, Colorado drivers should indicate that they want to receive offers by selecting those hours on the Schedule screen in the app to review available routes. However, Future routes will not be exclusive.
  • You can select any available hour on the schedule, however, keep in mind that you’re more likely to receive offers for pickup times from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

What is offer exclusivity?

  • Offer exclusivity means that when you are offered an available route, you will be the only driver able to see it for 60 seconds. If you decide not to claim it, it may be offered to another driver who will also have 60 seconds of exclusivity to review it. If an offer is not claimed, it may be re-offered to eligible drivers without exclusivity.

Where can I view my exclusive offers?

  • Offers in their exclusivity period will be listed under Exclusive to you on the Available routes screen in the app. If you receive an exclusive offer and do not claim it, you may be re-offered the route without exclusivity.

When will available routes be offered?

  • Available Routes will be offered based on their pickup window and the times that drivers have selected that they’re available to pick up routes on the Schedule screen in the app.

When will future routes be offered?

  • Future routes will be offered 2 days in advance and will be available for all drivers to review regardless of their schedule. Please note that future routes will not have an exclusivity period.

Why is offering different in Colorado?

  • Offering is different in Colorado, compared to other states, due to Colorado law made by the legislature earlier this year (2024). In order for Shipt, and all other app-based platforms in the state, to comply with this legislation offering was updated to meet the requirements for a minimum exclusivity of 60 seconds per driver per offer.

Where can I share feedback?

  • Please note that these updates are being made in compliance with changes to Colorado law made by the legislature earlier this year. If you have any questions about these updates, Shipt Support is available via the Help section of the app.

Where can I ask questions about using the app?

  • Shipt Support is available via phone, live chat, and email 24/7. Tap Help on the app’s main menu to contact us.
