X-Large Routes and Fluid Truck Rental

X-Large routes will have a special tag on the offer card that corresponds with the vehicle size needed to fit all packages for the route. X-Large Routes will contain 120 packages or more and will require an x-large vehicle to deliver such as a box truck or Cargo van. Drivers who are interested in delivering these routes and renting a vehicle will have the potential to do so through Fluid Truck.*
*Note: Subject to availability. X-Large Routes and Fluid Truck rental are only available in select metros at this time. 

If you are interested in X-Large Routes, be sure to update your vehicle size accordingly in the app. To learn how to select or update your vehicle size, click here.* We encourage you to reserve an X-Large Future Route before reserving a vehicle through Fluid Truck. This will help ensure that you have a route to deliver before renting a vehicle. 
*Note: Our partners need a minimum of 125 cubic feet of cargo space for XL-Routes.  When claiming an XL-Route, you’re representing that the vehicle you’ll use has that minimum capacity. Repeatedly claiming XL-Routes with vehicles that do not meet this minimum capacity may result in deactivation of your account. You can manage your vehicle size in the app.



Reserving a vehicle

  • Sign up for a Fluid Truck business account at least 24 hours before the arrival window of your route. 
  • Download the Fluid Truck app in the App or Google Play store.
  • Enter the requested account information. You will then be prompted to indicate whether you would like to use your account for business purposes. Select Yes
    • Under business name, enter your numeric Driver ID located on the Account page in the app under your name. IDs will need to be entered in the following format: “Shipt - #######.”
      *Note: Entering your Driver ID will allow you to see the vehicles located at the Sortation Center and receive the correct market rental rate.   
    • Under business category, select Delivery/Package handling.
  • Follow the Driver’s License Verification instructions in the app. You will not be able to rent a vehicle from Fluid until you’ve been approved on the Fluid Truck app and verified as a driver with Shipt. Drivers will receive a text message once approved no longer than an hour after sign up.
  • Before searching for a vehicle, please tap this icon () to make sure you have selected your business account. You will not see the vehicles at the Sortaion Center or the correct rental rate if your business account is not selected in-app"
  • Tap the filters icon () on the top right-hand corner of the home page and enter the Sortation Center’s address. You can find the address for each Sortation Center below.*
    *Note: Fluid Truck rental is only available in select metros at this time.

Picking up a vehicle

  • It's suggested you arrive at the Sortation Center at least 30 minutes before the arrival window of the route. 
  • Vehicle pickup locations will vary by Sortation Center:
    • Minneapolis: Vehicle pickup will be located in the team member parking lot. When you arrive, buzz in and let a Target team member know that you are there to pick up a Fluid Truck. 
    • Dallas: When you arrive at the Sortation Center, you’ll find Fluid Truck vehicles through the Shipt entrance and  to the left.  
  • Your specific vehicle will be noted by the fleet number located on the sides and the back of the vehicle.

Returning a vehicle

  • Once you have completed your route, return the Fluid Truck to one of the designated parking spots at the Sortation Center.

What will Fluid Truck vehicles be equipped with?

  • Each truck will be equipped with shelving, one dolly, and a cell phone holder.


What if the vehicle breaks down during delivery?

How do I know which vehicle is mine when I arrive at the sortation center?

  • Fluid Trucks are identified by a fleet number on the sides and back of the vehicle. You will see your fleet number in the app after reserving a vehicle.


How much is the rental fee and what does it include?

  • The rental fee is set at a market competitive rate. It includes the vehicle, the shelving, one dolly and a cell phone holder. 


What is the deposit fee and how soon will it return to my account after a rental? 

  •  There will be a $150 refundable deposit on your first rental. This will be refunded after the vehicle is returned in 3-7 business days. After you complete your first rental, you will no longer have a deposit fee, depending on your user score. For more information about your user score, click here.


Can I rent a vehicle for multiple days?

  • Vehicles can only be rented for a maximum of one day at a time.
